AKC Virtual Home Manners
From puppies to adults, American Kennel Club®, Virtual Home Manners (VHM) helps you to get started on training your dog to acquire practical skills at home, and it is natural segue into AKC Canine Good Citizen® in-person training.
“The evaluation of a dog’s ability to perform ten home manners skills will be done by a video recording. Two levels of Home Manners will be offered – Virtual Home Manners Puppy (VHMP) and Virtual Home Manners Adult (VHMA). Dogs that pass the tests will be awarded these titles. The Virtual Home Manners tests assess ten skills that well-mannered pet dogs need in the home setting. The skills relate to the dog owner having control over the dog, being able to walk the dog (which is one of the most frequently cited activities that owners want to do with their dogs) and developing a bond with the dog during playtime.” - AKC Virtual Home Manners
How Virtual Home Manners Works
Getting Started
Register your dog with the American Kennel Club, and submit a request on our form below for Virtual Home Manners registration for Virtual Home Manners Puppy or Virtual Home Manners Adult.
Submit Your Test Video
VHM evaluation will be conducted by video self-submission. Dog owners will video tape their dog(s) performing the 10 skills from the VHM Check List, and submit a link to the video of your dog’s VHM test to our AKC CGC Evaluator though our submission form.
Test Results
After watching the video, if the dog passes, our evaluator will send the combined Checklist/Video Verification Form to the dog owner. If your dog does not pass, you will be notified and required to resubmit a retake video.
AKC Required Documents Upon Passing
The dog owner will send to AKC: The Checklist/Video Verification Passing the Test, the Virtual Home Manners Title Application form, and $25.00 fee.
