Private Puppy Behavior & Training

Adding a puppy to your family is one of life’s most worthwhile experiences! Nevertheless, the complexity of raising a puppy can feel overwhelming and complicated. An appropriate puppy behavior and training program custom fit for you and your puppy can maximize their potential to be happy and well adjusted family members, while also strengthening your deep and meaningful bond!

Puppy training can start at 8 weeks of age offers a unique opportunity to provide your puppy with basic obedience and manners and the essential practical and behavioral skills to enter their adulthood as well-adjusted, and the ability to cope under new and stressful situations. Puppy training is also preventative. Providing your puppy with training before they have settled into challenging behaviors that may inhibit their potential, enables them to absorb their education more easily, making their training process more productive, with progress that is sustainable. This encourages your dog to use their own faculties to cope under stress, and facilitates the management of many new behaviors and challenges that they will inevitably encounter as adult dogs.

Our Approach

Our program is for puppies of all breeds, sizes, and between the ages of 8 weeks to 12 months. Based in science, we utilize an ethical and force-free method known as the Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA) approach, with rewards and positive reinforcement.

To maintain the effectiveness of our approach, we continue to evolve our program as the studies and research of dog behavior evolves. Our goal is not only teach your puppy to acquire coping mechanism and practical skills to thrive with you and in the real world, but to guide you to the tools and insight to build and maintain your puppy’s training so that it is sustainable over time. Ultimately, we strive to empower you to be the dog trainer so that you may continue your puppy’s training far beyond your time with us.

Complimentary Virtual Meet-And-Greet

To help you determine if our program is a good fit for you and your family, we offer a free, no-obligation virtual meet-and-greet for our private in-person and virtual puppy behavior and training programs. While evaluations, training and treatment plans are limited to scheduled training sessions, your virtual meet-and-greet is an opportunity to meet our dog behaviorist and trainer. Puppy Behavior & Training Curriculum

Puppy training can start at 8 weeks of age.

Housebreaking

Potty training, traditionally known as housebreaking, breaks puppies out of the habit of going to the bathroom inside of the home, and other inappropriate areas. Through positive structure and routine, housebreaking training helps puppy’s to understand how to control their bladder, inform you when they need to go, and anticipate and identify when and where to go to the bathroom in a rewarding way.

Basic Obedience & Manners

Basic obedience training, enables puppies to reliably respond to cues that include verbal, hand gestures, specific sounds, and body language, to perform specific actions like sit, stay, come, leave-it, off, drop-it, settle, leash proficiency. Basic manners address the ability for puppies to be polite and offer manners in basic encounters not limited to meeting and greeting new and familiar people and animals, walking through a crowd, waiting patiently, the ability to practice self-control in excited situations, listen, and focus. It address behaviors not limited to jumping, nipping, mouthing, biting, destructiveness, barking, whining, and door dashing.

Socialization

Socialization is the ability for puppies to be able to react and cope in new experiences, environments, sights, scents, sounds, and variety of other stimuli that exist in the real world. It fosters healthy relationships and interactions with people, other dogs and species. Socialization is essential for a puppy's ability to connect with their environment and with others, while building confidence and independence. It can help to avoid behavior disorders not limited to aggression and fearfulness.

Behavior Modification

Behavior modification is a methodical approach to changing a puppy’s reaction to a provoking stimulus. It examines what a dog is experiencing when provoked, why, when, where, and how their particular behavioral challenges happen, like issues with, hyperactivity, fear, anxiety, aggression, and separation disorders. This informs an appropriate approach to help change the way a puppy thinks, feels and acts towards a stimulus that they may struggle with.
