Are you licensed, bonded, and certified?

We are fully insured, bonded, licensed to do business in the City of Los Angeles and Santa Monica, certified in dog training, Pet Care, AKC Canine Good Evaluator and Trainer, and graduate of the Fear Free Shelters program. Certification varies from pet care providers and dog behaviorists and trainers. All pet care providers are certified in dog and cat first aid.

Are your pet care providers certified in Pet CPR and First Aid?

Yes.

Are your pet care providers and trainers vetted and background checked?

Our pet care providers and animal trainers undergo and must pass a rigorous interview and vetting process which includes: initial screening for experience with animals, the verification of professional references, in-person panel interview, an animal care test, and a criminal background check.

What does Love At First Sit® pet care provider mean?

To us, pet care providers are defined not only as animal lovers, but also animal professionals that are qualified, skilled, and have experience and proficiency working with pets with a wide variety of dispositions and needs. They are animal advocates that give back to the community. Some of these ways include volunteering at animal shelters and rescues, networking and promoting adoptable animals, and volunteering and/or working with entities that promote the well-being of animals. They are committed to continually expanding their experience and education in animal handling, behavior, health and wellness, and keep informed about animal control services and animal regulations. With this experience and skill set, our pet care providers not only love and dote on your pet while keeping them safe, they are also able foster your pet’s strengths and manage their challenges. This enables your pet to maintain a healthy and happy disposition while they are under our care.

Do you provide pet care services to pets with medical needs that may require medication administration?

Subject to availability, we provide medication administration services, and have experience with caring for pets with a wide variety of health issues. Please inquire with us with specific types of medication administration, and health issues. However, our pet care providers are not veterinary professionals and are limited in their scope of practice. If the your pet’s medical issues require a level management and intervention outside of their practice, and if at any time they pose a risk, and/or jeopardizes the health, safety, and well being of our staff, other animals, and people, for the safety of your pet and our staff, we reserve the right to refuse, decline, or discontinue all pet services at any time for any and all reasons determined by Love At First Sit®.

Do you provide pet care services to pets with behavioral needs?

Our pet care providers are experienced and proficient in caring for pets with behavioral needs. However, our pet care providers are not pet trainers. They are limited in their scope of practice. If the your pet’s behavior at any time poses a risk, and/or jeopardizes the health, safety, and well being of our staff, other animals, and people, for the safety of your pet and our staff, we reserve the right to refuse, decline, or discontinue all pet services at any time for any and all reasons determined by Love At First Sit®. We are unable to provide pet services to animals that are deemed aggressive or vicious.

What are your rates and what services do you provide?

Do you charge extra for multiple pets needing pet care, and dog training? Yes.  Depending on the type of pet and service, we charge a small extra fee per pet for each visit/service.  See additional pet fees listed per service

Are there any extra fees for pet care and private dog training services?

An additional $10 fee will apply for each service that falls on a major holiday: New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, After Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day. An additional $25 rush fee will apply for same-day requests for pet care. Same day private and virtual dog behavior and training request incur a $35 rush fee

Can I manage my pet care needs online?

Our service includes your own personal online client portal and app to manage all of your pet care and training needs.

How do I know that my pet care provider showed up for my pet’s visit or walked my dog?  Will I get daily updates?

Included in your online portal and app are daily visits and walk updates and reports that are GPS time stamped for each walk or visit with check-in and check-out times for each visit or walk.  Each dog walk is also GPS routed to view where your dog was walked.  Updates also include photos, short written reports, and drop-down check list of your pet’s well-being, any behavioral or medical observations to note, their activities during the visit or walk, as well as a list of chores completed.

Do you offer doggy day care, pet boarding, grooming, or board & train services?

No.

What is the shortest duration of pet sitting and dog walking that you provide? 30 minutes

What is the longest duration of pet sitting and dog walking that you provide?

1 hour. Overnight Pet Care is currently booked and unavailable. Check back for availability!

What is the duration a private dog behavior & training session that you provide?

Private Puppy Behavior & Training: 90 minutes for an initial consultation. One hour thereafter.

Private Dog Behavior & Training: 90 minutes for an initial consultation. One hour thereafter.

Group Dog Behavior & Training Classes: Variable

AKC Canine Good Citizen Classes: Variable

Do you accommodate specific times for services for pet care and dog walking? We work on a time-slot system exclusively.  Depending on the type service, our time slots range from 2-4 hours. Exceptions: If your requests requires a specific time due to medication administration, special needs, a target time can be accommodated.

Do you accommodate alternating day/every- other-day pet sitting visits?

No.  For the safety of your pets, we accommodate daily pet sitting visits only.

Do you accommodate last minute pet care and dog behavior training requests?

Last minute requests are subject to availability. We do not offer on-demand for any of our services. We encourage you to submit any pet care request at least 7 days in advance, or 14 days in advance for holiday services.  If your request is received after this, in order to maximize the opportunity of our availability, please be flexible as possible with your visit time preferences.  

Same-day pet care requests:

We do not offer on-demand services. Same-day services are subject to availability, and extremely limited. Same-day services will incur a $25 additional rush fee per visit/walk.

Private Puppy & Dog Behavior & Training sessions requests: 

We are not readily available for same-day services. We encourage requests at least 7 days in advance. Same-day services will incur a $35 additional rush fee.

Group Dog Behavior & Training Classes & Canine Good Citizen Test & Classes: Registration is on a first come, first served basis.

How do I submit a service request?

Online Requests 

The most efficient way to submit your service inquiry is online. You may submit your service inquiry for pet care, private dog training, or register for classes through our pet services web pages. Existing clients may request services directly through our exiting client online portal.

By Phone

You may call us at 310.310.8086 and speak to us Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm, excluding all major holiday.  If we receive a voice message, your call will be returned within 24 hours, during our normal call hours, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, excluding all major holidays.

 Special Policies

Do you require dog licenses to provide dog walking and pet sitting for dogs?

Yes. To be compliance with the law, current dog licensing is required for dog care services.

Do you accommodate in-home pet care services that combine pet care sharing with the use of another pet care service?

No.  Our insurance prohibits pet care sharing.  We are not able to provide service without insurance.  

What if it is a friend or family member and not a professional?

Yes.  We need prior authorization from you to consider your friend or family member as your pet’s owner in your absence.  We are not held liable for your pet is under the care of your friend or family member.

Do you reserve the right to not provide service to anyone?

Yes.  We reserve the right to refuse, decline, or discontinue all pet services at at any time for any and all reasons determined by Love At First Sit®. We are unable to provide dog care services to animal deemed aggressive or vicious.

COVID-19 Safety Protocols

 

Safety is our priority!  

To maintain the highest level of safety for all of our services, we practice COVID-19 safety protocols based on the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Los Angeles County.

 

 Referrals, Resources & Tips

Do you provide referrals and recommendations for services beyond pet care and training?

Yes! We support our local pet industry professionals!  We have relationships with veterinarians pet shops, pet friendly locations, and many other types of pet industry professionals. If you are interested in adoption, volunteering or donating, we have relationships with local animal rescue groups including Wags & Walks, and the Santa Monica Animal Shelter.
